The City of Del City is a proud supporter of Veterans and the Armed Forces. In an endeavor to best support those who have sacrificed much for their country, Del City has developed an all-embracing history as an active sponsor exemplifying our compassion for Veterans.
In 2006 Del City adopted the 1345th Transportation Company, Oklahoma National Guard who served a year in Iraq territory. Upon their return In 2007, Del City joined forces with neighboring city, Midwest City and the Army National Guard to host an historic homecoming welcoming event for the Oklahoma Army National Guard 1345th Transportation Company. "The Army Times reported that this was the largest homecoming parade since World War II, with over 20,000 in attendance.
On April 18, 2011, the City Council passed a resolution to formally adopt the US Air Force's 552nd Air Control Wing stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. The adoption took place through the “Adopt-a-Unit” program of America Supporting Americans. Shortly before its adoption, the 552nd ACW had deployed to Libya in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn. The City partnered with the Del City Chamber of Commerce to support the Airmen of the 552nd and their families as needed.

We are pleased to announce the City of Del City and Del City Chamber of Commerce Annual Armed Forces Day & Shriners Parade on Saturday, May 14. The Del City parade is one of the largest of its kind in Oklahoma, and we have a long and proud tradition of hosting this parade for nearly three decades.
The Parade will start promptly at 10 AM at SE 15th and Sunnylane. It will travel south on Sunnylane to SE 29th, where it will turn east and proceed to Vickie Drive.
Every year on November the eleventh, Del City hosts a Veterans Day Ceremony to honor veterans who have sacrificed so much for their country. The ceremony is held in Patriot Park, 4505 S.E. 15th Street (the east lawn of the Del City Community Center). Patriot Park has been the site of several veterans memorials and monuments since 1995 and its first Women's Veterans Monument was dedicated November 11, 2014.
Women's Veterans Monument, the book, is dedicated to the past, present, and future service women of the United States Armed Forces. It addresses the many facets leading up to the final product, the monument itself. The Women's Veterans Monument is a representation to honor all veterans for their services and sacrifice for our freedom.
