The City’s effective Comprehensive Plan was written in 1985. Although the plan has been updated numerous times to keep pace with the development and redevelopment needs of the community, the time has come for a complete plan revision.
Plan Revision Timeline
The process for a comprehensive plan revision is extensive and focuses largely on gathering input from affected stakeholders and then crystalizing that input into meaningful land use policies.
June-September |
Gather brainstorming input from Planning Commissioners, Department Heads, Community Members. Identify mapping needs, gather data, engage mapping contractor. |
September-March |
Begin to formulate initial plan structure and preliminary land use recommendations. Continue to development of mapping and data. |
March – April |
Develop draft plan. |
April-May |
Solicit comments on draft plan from stakeholders. |
May-June |
Revise draft plan. Hold public hearing before Planning Commission. Planning Commission endorsement of Comprehensive Plan and Long-Range Land Use Plan Map. |
June |
Hold public hearing before City Council. Council approval of ordinance adopting Comprehensive Plan and Long-Range Land Use Plan Map. |
July-August |
Develop implementation plan and prepare documents for public use. |
