On April 18, 2011, the City Council passed a resolution to formally adopt the US Air Force's 552nd Air Control Wing stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. The adoption took place through the “Adopt-a-Unit” program of America Supporting Americans. Shortly before its adoption, the 552nd ACW had deployed to Libya in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn. The City partnered with the Del City Chamber of Commerce to support the Airmen of the 552nd and their families as needed.
Mayor Brian Linley seals the adoption agreement with a handshake and resolution. Left is Brian Renz, then President of the Del City Chamber of Commerce, back City Manager Mark Edwards.
